Oil Stains from Glass Tiles

8 Steps to Remove Oil Stains from Glass Tiles

Oil stains are a common problem when cooking. Many recipes require the use of oil, and it can be hard to keep each speck of oil in your cooking pans! When left untouched, oil stains can quickly turn your brand-new tile into an unsightly mess! By following these simple steps, you can remove oil stains from your glass tiles and make them look new again.

1. Scrape off Any Excess Food Particles

The first step in cleaning up problematic oil stains is to remove any excess food particles. Using a spatula or similar utensil, carefully scrape off any food sitting on top of the oil you want to clean up. Getting all the food out of the way will make the cleaning process much more manageable.

If there is a large amount of food on the tile, try using a wet vacuum to suck it up. This will help speed up the process and ensure that all the food is gone before you start cleaning. In addition, the wet vacuum can soak up some of the oil without causing mechanical problems.

2. Wipe Off as Much Oil as Possible

Whether your glass bathroom tiles have a light or heavy coat of oil on them, the next step is to wipe off as much of it as possible. You can use any sort of paper towel or absorbent cloth that you have sitting around.

When using your paper towels (can also be an absorbent cloth, old t-shirt, and so on), blot the oil stain. Do not scrub at it, or you may end up spreading the stain around. Be patient and keep blotting until the majority of the oil is gone.

3. Apply Dishwasher Detergent Mixed with Water

Now that you have got the bulk of the oil off the glass bathroom tiles, it is time to think about neutralizing the oil and making it so that it cannot cause any problems to your tiles.

To do this, you need a small amount of dishwasher detergent. You can use any brand you prefer, but make sure it does not have chlorine bleach in its ingredients list.

Apply the dishwashing liquid directly to them with an old rag or sponge brush. Let the solution soak for about 5 mins to let the detergent thoroughly do its job. Then, simply rub off the tile and check to ensure there aren't any other stains to handle!

4. Wash Again with Detergent

This may seem equivalent to step three, but you must give the tiles a good wash after applying the dishwashing detergent. Do a second wash to ensure that all the oil is gone for good! This will remove any leftover residue and ensure that your glass bathroom tiles are clean and free of potential oil stains.

Use hot water and plenty of soap to get the job done! Be sure to rinse off all suds to ensure no residue is stuck to the glass bathroom tiles.

After completing these steps, your glass tiles should be free of any oil stains! With a little bit of elbow grease, you can get your tile looking as good as new in no time! If there are still some stubborn spots remaining, repeat the process until they are gone.

5. Rinse the Surface with Clear Water

After you have finished the process of extracting and neutralizing the oil, it is now time to rinse your glass bathroom tiles with clear water. This will remove any excess soap and ensure that all traces of oil are gone from them once and for all!

6. Let it Dry Thoroughly

Let it Dry Thoroughly

Once you have rinsed off the glass tile surface thoroughly, let it dry before using harsh chemicals on the glass tiles again. Try not to use glass cleaners, vinegar solutions, or other aggressive substances near the tiles. The glass surface is much more delicate than you think!

Allow at least 30 mins for the glass bathroom tiles to dry after you have finished cleaning them. This will ensure that any moisture is gone entirely and your glass tiles are safe to use! It’s essential to let the tiles dry completely before using them again.

7. Think of Applying a Sealant

Once your tile is completely dry, you are then free to apply any sealant that you like to increase the stain resistance of your glass bathroom tiles. There are a variety of sealants on the market, so be sure to do some research before deciding if this is the path you want to go down!

Sealing your glass bathroom tiles can help to reduce the chances of any oil or other liquids seeping into the surface and causing a stain. It is generally a good idea to seal your tiles every few months, especially if you have young children or pets in the home who are prone to spilling things!

8. Always Handle Routine Maintenance

Routine maintenance is very important when it comes to glass bathroom tiles. By taking a little bit of time out every week or so, you can avoid any potential problems down the line!

Ensure that you always clean up any spills as soon as they happen and never let them sit long enough to cause a stain. If you do have a persistent stain on your glass bathroom tiles, be sure to stop it in its tracks before trying any other remedies.
