Purchasing Tips for Buying Bathroom Tiles

To help in buying the perfect tile for your project, look at the existing features in your bathroom and think about what style these portray. Or, if you are doing a complete remodel of your bathroom…what look and feel would you like the room to have now that you’re starting from scratch?

Do you prefer bright vibrant colors? Calming blues and greens? Wonderful white…or a mix of black and white? What will it be? Try to choose something that you know you will enjoy for years to come because tile is extremely long lasting and durable and you won’t be replacing it anytime soon.

Consider where the tile will be used in your bathroom. Would covering a wall from floor to ceiling or just installing tile 4 foot from the floor up all around the room with a contrasting wall covering at the top work best for you? Do you plan to install tile behind the sink area as a functional and beautiful backsplash? Will it be used on a shower wall? On the floor? Or all of the above?

Porcelain, ceramic and glass tiles are all great tiles choices for application in a bathroom. You can purchase bathroom tile in so many colors, textures, sizes and shapes that choosing your favorite might be harder than installing the tile.

You can create a focal point on one wall or design your own one of a kind mosaic patter for on the shower walls or shower floor. Some people like it plain and others like their living space to be lively. The great thing about choosing tile as your wall covering is there are limitless patterns you can choose from.

Questions to answer when choosing bathroom tile are:

Is this a family bathroom or just for her or him?
Is this a powder room for guests?
Will this be a child’s bathroom?

For a “just for him” bathroom, black grout would add a masculine touch…it would also add a warm rich feel to the room. If it’s a bathroom for her, it’s hard to beat all white in varying textures of tile that might include iridescent glass tiles in combination with other white tiles such as frosted glass and glossy glass tiles. You can make a powder room an elegant or fun design, depending on the style of the rest of your home. For the kids…there are bright colors that would make the room a fun place for teeth brushing and rubber ducky bubble baths.

Our best tip before purchasing bathroom tile is to get a sample of the tile you like before investing in tile for your entire project. That way you can experience the quality of the tile and you can also see how it will look in your bathroom and you have the opportunity to change your mind.
